Tru Life, born Robert Guzmán Rosado, Jr. in New York City, is an American rapper of Puerto Rican descent. He first signed with Dreamworks Records in 1999 and his album Cryin’ Out Loud was set to release in 2001. However, his career stalled until he was signed by Jay-Z at Roc-A-Fella Records. He gained public attention with his original song Wet Em Up.
In 2009, Tru Life was charged with second-degree gang assault for stabbing two men in Manhattan. He is currently serving an eight-year jail sentence at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York. He and his brother Marcus Rosado both claimed responsibility for the stabbing and were sentenced to prison terms. Tru Life will be eligible for parole in February 2016.
