Uncle lured young niece out of her bedroom with lollies and $2 coin before raping her in garden shed

A vile uncle who lured his eight-year-old niece into a garden shed with the promise of lollies and a $2 coin before raping her has been jailed for 11 years.

The man, who cannot be named, was sentenced at Bundaberg District Court in Queensland on Tuesday for the disgusting attack, the Sunshine Coast Daily reported.

Before the rape, the man had been living in the same house as his niece but was told to leave after he was caught watching her through her bedroom window as she undressed, crown prosecutor Christopher Cook said.

In March, the man went back to the house in the middle of the night and used a screwdriver to open a fly screen on the girl's bedroom window.

He woke her up and asked her to go with him to a shed in the garden, promising her 'lollies and a $2 coin', the court heard.

Once they were in the shed, the man showed the girl pornography on a laptop before performing sex acts on her, later cleaning himself up with baby wipes.

Mr Cook said the man's mother called him the next day and warned him to never 'come near my grandchildren again'.

'[He has] left a girl with lifelong effects and poses a significant danger to the community,' Mr Cook said.

The man sexually assaulted two young girls in 2012 and 'failed to rehabilitate' himself.

In sentencing, Judge Leanne Clare said he used 'calculation, determination and deviousness' and was a 'true predator'.

'You continue to represent a danger to children,' she said.
